This species is recorded throughout the North Atlantic and North Pacific Ocean, including Canada, Greenland, Japan, Mexico, Panama, Russia and U.S.A.

In Panama this species has been collected from southeast of Punta Mala (USNM 34351; Centroid Latitude: 7.2500, Centroid Longitude: -79.6000), Azuero Peninsula, and South of Coiba Island (USNM E 4757 & USNM E 9780; Centroid Latitude: 6.4333, Centroid Longitude:-81.8167), eastern Pacific, North Pacific Ocean, by the R. V. Albatross from a depth range of 1415 - 1865 m.
